fields by sundown we reached
our destination - about 50 kilos
- 35 miles - legs so tired they felt
like lead weights.  muscles so
sore it hurt to move - put in
crowded barn - sat up all night
no place to sleep. - those that were
there moved out next morning.
we remained all next day
1 hot soup - bread & syrup -
issued 1/2 loaf of bread & 1 can of
syrup for 17 men for two days
ration - marched to train station
& put in box cars 60 men in "car"
hardly room to stand.  moved
slowly - often remained still for
six & seven hrs. 3 days & two nights.
- doors opened 3 times - no water
no food.  Arr. at XII A - feet in
bad condition. cold day & night
no chance to get warm.  Deloused
for 1st time - hot shower - no
soap - felt good - tired & weak.
moved to crowded barraks. given
blanket - cold coffee - slept
together on floor.  Registered next
day - given talk by Am. 1st. Sgt.
explaining situation somewhat.
