cellar to cellar - given apples by
elderly medic - two guards &
one whom we had wounded in the
leg.  finally arrived at rear CP
curious Jerries questioned us about
America - treatment of German
prisoners etc. We asked about
severity of winter etc. Taken in
small car about 1/2 hrs ride to
rear - many horses in use -
given black bread & marg w. lousy coffee
slept on floor with other prisoners
- about 45 - next day marched
from 8 AM to 5 PM - 3 or 4 breaks -
bread and jam (size of bullion cube)
that night. slept on straw on
floor. next few day marched 10-20
miles finally reached collecting
point. cold tired searched - given
bowl of hot potatoe soup. 1st hot
meal in 5 days - between 3 & 400
prisoners collected there - several
officers - given 1/4 loaf of bread in
morning & 1/4 can of meat to eat
started early in morning &
marched & marched & marched
-hungry - ate onions & beets from

Jerries - "2 more kilos"
