Apr. 30 Plans underway for evacuation

May 1st. Many fellows taking off
to try to reach Am. lines.
Went to mail bag - picked up 2
beautiful letters. Ate soup
& noodles with Russians.
Russians took our bikes away.
May 2nd Moved from Stalag IV B
marched about 20 kilos to Riesa
set up in former German quarters
Some clothes, food, guns & ammo
still here.  Norm & I got officer's
room - twin beds. sheets -
stove in room. best set up
in building
May 3 Went
out window to look over town
Russian officer took us into
bakery & told us to help ourselves
Each took 5 loaves - found
food in socked houses - stores
hotels, etc.
May 4 fixed big meal in room
have more food than Jerry gave
us for 50 men in Stalag.
