about half mile of steep climbing over
rocks - slipping falling - trying to keep
hand of wounded on stretcher - up narrow
creek of steep canyon. used rope to
raise litter to top of canyon.  carried
litter until we met jeep. -  88's
mortars & screaming meemies one
landed directly on litter demolished
wounded & bearers - one with
wound left in fox hole found later shot
thru head. - A Co. men kept coming
back (those who could) all night & mixed
up retreat - No organization - badly
beaten. held litter on jeep -
(2 litters & several walking wounded in jeep)
moved cautiously - couldn't see road
- pitch black. aid station at least
2-3 miles to rear in abandoned house -
couldn't return to Co. area that night
watched wounded being treated -
changed socks & leggins - slept in
aid station - plenty rations & D bars
1st night's sleep in long time - rode jeep
to Bn CP - much traffic on rode - tank
stuck in mud - rain. found out C is
moved out about midnight & were in
fight now - couldn't be contacted - stayed
at message center - ate plenty rations - made
coffee - field on way to C Co. covered by
snipers. - Couldn't reach them with much
needed ammo & food all that day.
